Fan Shizhong, a graduate student studying in Hunan University (HNU), was included in the list of China’s 30 Most Promising Designers Forbes released by Forbes in Hangzhou on Nov. 25. Fan, as the youngest and the only one still in school among the prize winners, delivered a speech themed “Sticking to Design and Nation’s Accountability”.
Forbes is an American business magazine owned by Forbes, Inc., founded by B.C. Forbes in 1917. Apart from releasing the list of China’s 30 Most Promising Designers, it also announces the names of China’s 30 Most Influential Designers. The two lists have been regarded as the benchmark for China’s contemporary designers.
The two lists this year focus on architectural design, interior design, industrial design, fashion design and visual design. 40 senior experts in design, art and media circles released the list of nomination for finalists, and 12 celebrated Chinese and overseas designers and artists reviewed and finally chose the winners.
Fan Shizhong is now studying in School of Design in Hunan University. He won the iF Design Award as the “Design Oscar” when he was a sophomore, grabbed over 20 domestic and international design awards, and has been approved with four national grants.
