Published:2013-12-23

“Do not be afraid to fail, dare to try to achieve their dreams…” Chen Wei hold a wonderful inspirational lecture at the auditorium of Fulinshe teaching building in the evening of 20th, November, which attracted a large number of audience and warm applause.

In his lecture, Chen Wei mentioned that he has a flying dream since his childhood. In 1995, he went to study in U.S. and started his own business in America after getting his MBA degree in 1998. After getting his pilot license in 2007, he spent more than one million dollars to buy a single-engine plane and applied for visa to pass through various countries and regions. He determined to make his flying dream come true.

Chen Wei started his 40,000 km circumnavigation from Memphis, U.S. in May, 2011. His tour lasted 69 days via Canada, India, China, Britain, Russia and other countries and regions, and Chen Wei himself became the 167th people in the world and the first Chinese citizen who achieved global flight by light aircraft.

Though experienced lots of difficulties like Iceland volcanic ash, typhoon in India, high temperature over 40 degrees centigrade in Saudi, and the Middle East unrest, Chen was never defeated. He summed up the key to success as a formula: success=self-discipline +concentration +choice, and took his mother's teachings to exhort the young students to have a positive attitude towards life and be brave to face failure when encountered difficulties, thus they can realize their dreams with full valor.

“As long as we are brave enough to take the first step; all difficulties will be conquered”, Ma Lifang, a senior majoring in Japanese in College of Foreign Languages said after listening to the speech.

It’s said that Chen Wei has launched the first non-governmental aerobatics team in China. In the continuing days, he will come to schools like Central South University, Ming De Middle School, etc. to give free speech and share his flying dream with students, and encourage them with inspirational positive energy.
