Hunan University Offers Many Non-degree Programs

Hunan University offers many non-degree programs, below are a few of them.

1.Chinese language programs.
 It is for international students who are interested in Chinese language and characters, the students will be awarded certificate of Chinese language education after complete all the course.

2.Advanced study for professional courses. 
It contains general advanced study and senior advanced study. The general advanced programs are offered for those undergraduates who have interest in the corresponding subjects. And the senior advanced programs are offered for those postgraduates who intent to do research on special topics, the students who complete the programs will be awarded a certificate

3.Chinese Culture programs
It is for personnel or group coming to study short-term Chinese culture programs. The programs cover Chinese history, culture, language, economy, martial art, calligraphy and so on. This programs aims at help trainees learn Chinese history, culture and development. Our short-term culture programs last from a week to 8 weeks, very flexible. The trainees will learn some basic Chinese language, experience profound Chinese cultural connotation and enjoy studying with Chinese students, also they can take a visit at a Chinese family for practical experience. Besides indoor classes, many wonderful outdoor classes are also arranged, including taking a visit in enterprises in Hunan province and famous Chinese sightseeing.

Taking it for example, our university organized a very important project called Developing Chinese University’s Civil Engineering Education Forum in 2008. We recruited 20 university presidents, principals and construction ministry’s officers and experts from countries like Vietnam, Mongolia, Nepal, Kenya, Tanzania and so on to join English language training. The training involves lecture on civil engineering, visiting construction site and practice base, visiting Beijing city and sightseeing. The program was a big success, and received all experts’ praise.

4.Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Summer Camp Observation
The first summer camp of the competition was held at Hunan University. Before introducing about the Summer Camp Observation, I would like to talk about Chinese Bridge first, it is large Chinese proficiency competition organized by Chinese language promotion group office of China Hanban.  Since 2002, it has been successfully held by China Hanban for 8 times, the seventh and eighth ones took place at Changsha, Hunan province. Approximate 10 thousand college students from world’s 70 countries took part in the game. All the contesters need to take part the primary state of the completion in their own nation, and the thousand outstanding ones came to China for the finals. All contesters who took part in preliminary contest would have the chance to join the summer camp observation that I said just now. The competition means much to those foreign students, and many of them said it was an unforgettable trip in China.
